Apologies to S. Dali. To convey “time-management meltdown” in restaurant operations, Bill and I went to some restaurant-equipment warehouses to scout out ranges to shoot. Keeping in mind that the stove would be composited onto the butcher-block surface in Photoshop, Bill schlepped the butcher-block slab to the location to sit it in front of the range for the shoot so it would pick up the appropriate reflection in the metallic surface—which is also evident in the frying pan. Even when “only we know it is there,” his foresight in planning multifaceted images, his unwavering perfectionism and his love of art always pays off. I believe he ate the pie.
